Letter August 10, 2015

Dear Family,

Well, hard work pays off. My companion and I destroyed the pisos. We
have never worked so hard in all of our missions. We just wanted
people at church so bad that we did almost anything to get it done. We
did baptise WHOOO and we did get people to church WHOO and we also got
a million blessings WHOOOOOO!! I love how hard we have worked this
change and now it is again coming to a close. This mission stuff goes
by too fast. I can't believe how I am working. I feel so busy
with all the things I have to do with my district. Interchanges commit
people to church sacar las fechas. SO much work. I had a really great
week but man did it take its toll. I have had cucarachas in my bed and
it has been full of sleepless nights and long hard working days. I am
super tired bien cansado mi amigos. I learned a really important
lesson this week, that no matter how hard we work in the mission its
almost nothing in the eyes of the lord. Everything we do for Him is
considerd success because we are serving Him. My bishop noticed how
stressed out we were trying to get everything figured out to go and
get people to church and the baptism in order he took us into the
bathroom and taught us this very important lesson. -Elders you are not
supposed to look like this you arent allowed to be, you have a baptism
people in church and you taught the gospel all week. You have had a
very successful week.- It calmed me down so much and we enjoyed a very
beautiful baptismal service of Alejandra. Her husband has been a
member for the past year and she loves the church and she wants to get
sealed in the temple. We are worried for her husband as he has
developed a very serious cancer. We hope he makes it. Also great news
is for the first time of my mission the temple will be opening this
week!!! It had some problems with it but now after years it will open
again. I am so excited to go and visit the house of the lord. In my
area the members here love us and we have this lady named Hermana
Rivera, she is my favorite lady ever!! She is so funny I laugh so hard
when we pass by her house to eat, we always end up crying from
laughter because she is so crazy and funny. I love this ward and I
hope that I stay next change. Thank you for the update from home. It
sounds like we are growing. Change always results in growth. Gracias
para todo mama y papa, este mission ha cambiado mi vida. Queiro ser
como ustedes cuando tenga mis propios hijos, que raro verdad? puedo en
algunas meses tener una esposa y tal vez hijos haha pero esperaremos.
Estoy tan agradecido por las cosas que he aprendido, lo me va a ayudar
en todo aspectos de mi vida, Se que esta iglesia es la verdadera, no
puede ser niguna otra en la tierra.  Yo se que el libro de mormon
cambia vidas y ha cambiado mia. Gracias papas por enviarme aqui,
envien lane a la mission, si tengo que reganarle para que vaya digame
no tengo miedo de eso. Les amo mucho

Letter August 3, 2015

Dear Family,

That is insane! Hey, you peeps need to enjoy the journey! That looked so
beautiful. I was kinda jelous of that adventure. thank you so much for
all that you guys do for me. I do feel those prayers everyday I kid
you not there are times when it is just so hard here. 

I am not going to lie, I have no plans on coming back to Mexico. Sorry just way too
risky. I would love for you to come down but no trust me no. I think
that is super cool that Carson is serving in Spain I think you told me
but I dont really remember. 

I miss fourwheelers because funny enough everyone has a fourwheeler in my area it is so weird. Its been a rough week but we did our best we worked so hard but there wasnt a lot of
fruits. We just buckled down through many many trials. We just had one
thing after the other fall through. We had a baptism prepared this
week but the guy felt pressured from his family not to do it and we
are going to visit him tonight to go and sac the fecha again. I am
weirded out that luke is home and tyler gets home next month. i know
that i will be coming home soon. Its inevitable. I love the mission
but i know that the time i have is going to be a flash for me. I am
more than 2/3 done with my mission but i know that it is precious
time. 

My time with Elder Davis is coming to an end this month then I
will have a new companion. feels like yesterday that i got here. I did
not get the las package yet. But I hope I get it this next Tuesday
when pouch gets here. 

I learned a ton this week about being a missionary and not worrying
about numbers people and places. It helped me out a ton with stress
that I have. It was a awesome moment to realize that even if I work my
tail off and do everything possible I will still face sometimes
failure. I know that we are children of god We have a potential to
live as god lives to be as god is being. We are imperfect but i know
that we can apply the sacrifice of the atonement and become better
than we ever have been. The success that i have seen in me has been
through the atonement every single week. It is hard to complete all
the pisos but i know i can and will do them all one week. I love this
gospel and i love the atonement. Be missionaries and apply the
atonement! I love watching success happen. Lane, I know you will be
successful. Work hard.

Thank you, son.  Sorry it was such a hard week.  Just remember that we learn the most when we are stretched.  You are giving your all and doing your best.  Don't get discouraged.  We love you!!!
