We woke up to snow this morning. Not exactly what any of us pictured five months ago when we heard that April 2nd was the drop off date at the MTC. Nonetheless, Elder Thompson was excited and eager to get moving. After a morning of I-Hop and shopping for Anna's new track shoes, we killed time by driving up by the temple and taking some pictures. Several missionaries were there with family--one who was going to the same mission as Kyle, Elder Costello from Mesa, Arizona (Yay! he has a buddy). From there we made a few loops around the MTC, drove by the other campus where Kyle and his hermanos will be staying for the next six weeks, and then the inevitable had to happen. So, we all bucked up, said our goodbyes and dropped him off ... ten minutes early. We must have cried most of our tears the night before at his setting apart because the drop off was not too terribly emotional. How can we cry when he is so excited and eager to go?

President Hiskey pronounced a beautiful blessing of safety, confidence,
effectiveness, and realization of personal gifts upon Elder Thompson. He put
Mom's worries to rest...for now. |

Tienes suerte, mi hijo fabuloso. You are going to be an excellent missionary!!!
P.S. Got an email the following night regarding immunization records. In the process, we learned that Elder Costello is his companion and they are Zone Leaders. A dynamic duo, for sure.
