So Long, George! and a Peanut Butter and Jelly Request

June 16, 2014

Dear Family,

MOM, NO SE PRECUPE! I am alive and well and the diarrhea has stopped, and don’t worry I took Imodium and got a shot to help my stomach digest food
better. Don’t worry about me. Everything is ok. However, HOLY CRAZY WEEK. Okay, so first our baptism did not go as planned because our bishop is kind of tonto not going to lie, but it’s all good. I will explain why. One her husband is a member and her husband went to the bishop for an interview and our bishop told him that he could baptize her in four weeks if he remained worthy. He had some sort of problem I don’t know what. However, later our bishop talked with his wife about her baptism and she wants to get baptized by us again, and we were like, ah, bishop por que, amigo!  So we didn’t baptize anybody this week.

My comp does most of the teaching yes, but I do too. My Spanish is near fluent, and I can teach but they always look confused hahaha. Ok and another thing, my companion apparently broke a serious rule and I did not know it until after my ward mission leader told me so.... yeah, things have been nuts. I had to call my president and tell him everything. This is the last week with my comp and he has been a really good example except for that one thing.

Also, we have had problems with our contacts giving us fake addresses and numbers. Oh, one really funny thing happened. One guy that was super drunk approached me I had no clue he was drunk until after he shook my hand. He said the weirdest things about how God lived in him and that he didn’t need a guero like me to come and tell him how to live and I tried so hard not to smile. I just told him that I was American and I couldn’t understand him and he let me go hahahahaha. Oh, bien loco.

We have a bunch of investigators and one I cannot understand to save my life because she talks so fast!!! I’m always so focused and I still never get it. She just laughs at me. I have been working so hard and I get really tired every day. I have been eating a lot more food now because I need it. I have been talking to Elder Thompson and Elder Cluff. It is very interesting to see the differences between our missions. However, they are both doing great. I am almost done with my first change and I don’t believe it. This mission goes by so fast and holy cow it is hard. The culture is really different and it is hard to tell when people are joking with me or not.

Tell Michelle congratulations and tell her to work hard and be obedient. My mission is so strict when it comes to obedience. For example, we get to have comb-overs--like the apostles, of course, but man I feel like a kid again because of it. LANE, I MISS OATMEAL SO BAD. Save some for me, okay! Mom can you do me a big favor, and send me bread and peanut butter and jelly? THANK YOU!!

Elder Thompson

Dad, I just want to say thank you for all you have done for me. I always remember you when I am stuck and go hmm how would Dad do this or fix this. I hope you know that I love you a ton and I am extremely grateful for you.

P.S. George died the other day... he tried to get into my bed... I killed him.
