Well, today was changes and I have a companion from North Carolina, Goldsburough: Elder Romo. Yes, like the football player. Elder Aranda and I had a hard week. He was so sad that he was finishing his mission and he struggled to do the things we needed to. Once again, none of our investigators came to church, but Elder Romo and I plan to change that. Elder Aranda taught me so much, but man this past week for him was just awful. He does not want to go home. I feel that I will be the same way, but it was probably one of the saddest weeks of my life. Every lesson he mentioned how he was going home and how he will see his family. Super sad. However, he made some really good food last night. It was a recipe de Panama. SO GOOD: it was probably the best thing I have eaten here. How people eat here is there is always tortillas. We have three plates we have to finish eating. One, the soup two, the main course and three, the pastel. But Elder Aranda just made food from Panama so we didn't have it that way. It was coconut with rice and chicken, and it was really good.
We didn't work very effectively during the week because he was always thinking about home. However, I plan to
work hard and my goal is to baptize 5 this change. We found another family, and THEY ARE PERFECT. One of them has a problem with alcohol, but he wants to quit so bad. They are so humble, but for right now we can't find them because they are never home!
Elder Romo can speak English. Do you people know how happy that makes me???? SO HAPPAY! This past week was awesome the weather is amazing and I have awesome tan lines. I will write Grandma today, so no worries. I am excited for Jordan and that he is recovering quickly. I'm excited for all your fun adventures in YAKIMA. I miss that place.
[I mentioned a few of the people who are reading this blog, so that is where this comes from. . .]
I want Brett to know that I know that this church is true with all my heart. The more I read the Book of Mormon, the more I know that God loves us and wants what is best for us and that is to return to Him.
I love the mission field, but I need a small favor. Can you send me True to the Faith, Our Heritage, and Jesus the Christ. Also, can I have a Book of Mormon in Japanese? I would like to learn that language also because I trust in the promise of the prophet, Thomas S Monson, that whoever reads the Book of Mormon in another language will learn the language of that book. Gracias mucho! Si puedo hablar en español entonces no se preocupen. [This made his dad laugh. He can learn Japanese when he gets home. . .]
Family keep having fun and strive for the Spirit. I love you all!
Elder Thompson
P.S. Wow, I can't believe how tall Anna and Lane are. STOP GROWING. I DON'T WANT TO BE THE SHORTEST!!! JEREMY AND JORDAN, WHY ARE YOU SO BUFF???!!!
