Okay, what happened at home? Things have changed so much I can't believe it. Kyler and Brittney? Wow, I did not see that coming. Also, Dad hit a hole in one...THAT IS AWESOME! I can't believe how much news I have received.Sounds like a lot of fun!
Well, this past week with Elder Romo was really fun. We get along great and we have a lot in common. He and I walked so much because our area is huge, and we don't have money for transportation. We have 4 families that we are teaching right now and they are all progressing. We are hoping to baptize at least one of their families and then we will be able to find more. We walked so much that I had to keep telling myself just keep walking, just keep walking, walking, walking. If you got that, good job.
Well, we had an awesome experience with one of our families. Right now they are in the church Luz del Mundo. The abuela was asking us what's the name of God, what is this, what is that? Elder Romo has only been out ten months, but he answered all the questions from her so easily and the spirit was with us. We testified about the Book of Mormon and the message it contains and all we wanted her to do was read it, ponder it, and ask God if these things are true. The spirit was so strong that she actually started to cry and said, "You answered all of my questions and more; I will read this book." PARTAY!!! OH SO HAPPAY! When this happened we walked away feeling like champions, and it made me realize the importance of the Book of Mormon--that if we read it, pray about it with real intent to know if it's true, and ponder it, we will receive our answer. The Book of Mormon has given me my testimony that it is true and that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God and that families are eternal.
My Testimony was also attacked this week about if God really exists. An atheist was one of our references ....yeah.... Well, he told us that we cannot know that God exists and that religion is a waste of time. However, in the Book of Mormon (in Nephi somewhere... I couldn't remember where at the moment) it says if we believe in good and bad then we believe that there is a god. So I asked him and he said of course there is good and bad...little win...
The Book of Mormon is true and I cannot express that enough. It has the answers to the soul. I hope you are all reading it and if not, you're crazy. When I get home I want to learn about the doctrine of Christ so much. Right now I'm limited to the basics because that is all I need. My invitation to you is to read the Book of Mormon and to find out as much about the gospel as you can. Question of the Day: Who is the angel Gabriel in the New Testament.... Also a bonus: Who is the Ark Angel, Rafael?
Well, family, do something crazy like hitting a hole in one on a par four or something like that. Have a great week
Elder Thompson
