He Made It!

May 14, 2014

Dear parents and family of Elder Thompson,

President Whitehead and I want to let you know that your son, Elder Thompson, safely arrived in Mexico City and is now working hard in the mission field.  You should have received a phone call from him right after he arrived at the mission home Monday night.

We are so thrilled to have your son in our mission. President Whitehead hand-picked top-notch elders and leaders in this mission to train this group of elders and sisters.  We have anticipated their arrival for months.

We fed your son dinner soon after we picked him up from the airport, had a short devotional and sent him to bed in the basement apartment here at the mission home with the other missionaries. The next morning we fed him breakfast and then he was interviewed by President Whitehead.  Next he was briefed on the rules of the mission by the APs and afterwards met his new trainer and companion that he will have for the next 6 weeks.  We took pictures and after, he and his companion left the mission home together to give away a Book of Mormon and get as many referrals as the could in 130-40 minutes.  When they returned we talked about his experience, fed him pizza and then he was whisked away with his companion by taxi to his new destination to go to work.

Thank you for raising this wonderful young man.  We can tell that he is very special.  We love him already.

President and Hermana Whitehead

Hermana Whitehead,

Thank you for the update and for taking such good care of our son,  Elder Thompson.  In addition to gaining an unshakable testimony, we are hoping he can put on a few lbs.  Sounds as though you are helping with both!  We appreciate all you have done and will continue to do in Kyle's behalf.  We expect he will work his hardest, whatever the assignment.

Love,

Brother and Sister Thompson
