Questions Answered--a Holy Cow Letter!

May 26, 2014

Dear Family,

Holy cow what a crazy week! I will explain it later, but, Mom, to answer your questions…

1. I am in Molinito. It is pretty rich and hard to baptize in this area.
2. My companion was walking in the dark, there was a pothole, turned his ankle, and yep that is the story--nothing crazy.
3. Oh, I ate dog... not going to lie… it was good.
4. Alright, this is my schedule: I wake up at
6:30 then I work out then bathe in cold water... yep... 7:00 to 10:30 is studying time from language and scriptures. After that I go and proselyte. Then I return home at 9:00 then I plan and go to bed.
5. Holy COW!  THE WEATHER HERE IS INSANE!! When it rains it dumps buckets here. The humidity isn’t too bad but the elevation I have no clue what it is.
6. Yes, send mail to the president’s home not my address because it won’t make it.
7. I am struggling. It is so hard because their accent is a little
different; however, I know about 70 percent of what is said. I just can’t speak very well. I can listen but not teach much.
8. I walk... Well, more like run...
9. Yes, all of the above mom. I shop. I wash, and I buy groceries. It’s fun :)
10. I am in the city, but holy cow the technology here is like 10 years old. The city I am in is actually very safe, so don’t worry.

Wow, what a week. Okay, the standards from my president are very hard to accomplish. We have to get 150 contacts in the street and a baptism every week. However, guess what? I GOT TO BAPTIZE SOMEONE! Her name is Maria Louisa Hernadez Sebreda. She is 87! She was scared a little bit to be dunked into the water but she did it anyway. I was
shaking so bad I am surprised I even did it right. When it was all said and done she was crying saying, “Me siento nuevo!” Or I feel new! It was awesome. Don’t worry, Mom, I got pictures.

Also let me explain what my companion is like. He is very hard working and is extremely obedient. Sometimes he can be hard on me but sometimes I need it. He is also called the “bautizador” because he has like a ton of baptisms--like 70 something. He is a great companion.

My apartment is maybe the size of our kitchen at home, maybe smaller. It has bugs and I have a pet cockroach. His name is George. I also have a hard time sleeping because people here stay up all night and blast music.

However, it is awesome. The people are so kind and generous except on the road. I have had to memorize so much here, holy cow.  The Articles of Faith, D &C Section 4, 45 principles, and a bunch of other stuff. Like I said, I also got to eat dog and wow it was good--spicy but good.

I hope everything is good at home, and I hope Anna gets better. Have an awesome week! I can’t get the computer to show the pics, so next week.

 Adios,

Elder Thompson
